Community involvement
Our school values strong partnerships with our families and community. Parents and carers can get involved through our Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) or by volunteering at our school. Your time and support help make our school a better place for everyone.
Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)
The Darlinghurst Public School Parents & Citizens Association (P&C) was re-established in 1995 and is affiliated with the P&C Federation of NSW.
Our P&C is a volunteer organisation made up of parents, carers, and friends of the school, dedicated to supporting the Principal and staff in their work to educate and care for our students. The P&C Executive oversees all P&C activities, including providing support to the Darlo Play Centre and its management team.
The current P&C Executive
President: Paul Yardley
Vice Presidents: David Snowdon & Chad Slater
Secretary: Natasha Poyntz
Treasurer: Mandy Green
Darlinghurst P&C offers something for everyone—whether you’re interested in policy, fundraising, organising events, helping with management, or simply lending a hand. Everyone is welcome to be involved.
If you’d like to become a member with voting rights, annual membership is just $2. To join, please email us at darlo.pandc@gmail.com.
P&C meetings are held once each term in the school library. Keep an eye out for updates confirming the date of the next meeting. All parents and friends are warmly invited to attend.

Volunteer at our school
Helping out at school is a great way to get involved in your school community.
We often ask parents, carers or family members to spare a little time each week to assist students who have been identified as needing extra assistance with reading or maths. If you are interested in helping an information session is held at the beginning of the year, or you may contact the office to speak to the program coordinators throughout the year.
Volunteer opportunities include:
- getting involved in the P&C
- listening to children read in the classroom
- volunteering on sports days and other school events
